Mangaluru, Jul 22: The department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, in association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka organised ‘Quest’, held a continued education activity at the Decennial Memorial Hall, Father Muller Medical College, on Saturday, July 22.
The theme of the programme was 'Medical Negligence and Consumer Protection Act – An Integrated Approach'.
Dr Uday Kumar, medical superintendent, Father Muller Medical College Hospital was the chief guest of the programme. He laid emphasis on the day's theme while addressing the audience.
The programme began with a prayer song. The CEA was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais and Dr Akhilan from the audience.
Dr Shivaprasad K, principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College welcomed the gathering. He spoke about ancient medicine and stressed on the day's theme.
Fr Vincent Saldanha, administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital spoke about the implication of laws and acts of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in practice for AYUSH practitioners, particularly, those which would help Homoeopathic students as well.
Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions gave the presidential address. He told the doctors who are targeted in spite of their dedicated service and said that the integrated approach of medical non-negligence and consumer protection would greatly help practitioners, faculty members and students.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the organising secretary, Dr Madona Joseph, head of the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, FMHMC.
Resource persons Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, professor and HOD, department of FMT,KSHEMA, Dr SHERYL SOARES, assistant professor, department of FMT, KSHEMA, Maniraj Rajeeva, advocate, district government pleader, Dr Sanil Kumar, reader and HOD, department of FMT, Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Kozhikode, Dr Nagesh K R, professor and HOD of FMT, Father Muller Medical College, Kankanady, and Dr Ajith Kamath, assistant professor of department of Agada Tantra, Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidri, were present for the inaugural function.
The inauguration concluded with the institution anthem.
