Bantwal, Jul 22: On Friday July 21, Dakshina Kannada in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, sought divine intervention to make sure that accused relating to murder cases in the district get arrested, peace and harmony settles in the district, and those who have already been arrested for murders and attacks get punished early.
On Friday morning, the minister visited Goddess Rajarajeshwari temple at Polali and Sayyed Hydrose Jumma Masjid at Mallur Uddabettu where he offered prayers. In the evening, he visited Infant Jesus Church at Modankap to pray to the divine forces.
Speaking to media persons later, Rai said that malicious campaigning has been inflicting maximum damage to the social fabric in the district. He said that he had prayed to the gods to make sure that people who either directly or indirectly indulge in purposeful slander and spread fake news about others are caught and get punished for their crimes. He implored the Lord to punish everyone who have done wrong things, including himself if he also had done something wrong inadvertently, as these things basically have given rise to heartburn and unrest in the society.
"I have been in public life since several decades, and people of this region, irrespective of which faith they follow, are close to to my heart. When working for the society, I have treated everyone equally without differentiating between people. If I had anytime thought of giving trouble to others, I request God to punish me. In the past too I had offered prayers for the unwanted incidents to stop," he explained.
Managing trustee of Polali temple, Ammunjeguthu Dr Manjayya Shetty, trustees, Chera Sooryanarayana Rao and Pavitrapani Madhava Bhat, priests, Narayana Bhat, Ram Bhat, Parameshwar Bhat, Ulipady Uday Alva and Ammunje Devadas Hegde were present.
At the Uddabettu mosque, priest, Ashraf Yamani, offered prayers on behalf of Rai. President of Mallur gram panchayat, M K Yousuf, Sharif Kalayi, Raviraj Rao and Yousuf Ulaibettu were present.
Priest of Modankap church, Fr Maxim Noronha, Todambila church priest, Fr Kiran Pinto, and Sr Supriya performed prayers. Vice president of parish council, Sandesh Manezes, Josvin D'Souza, Ida Suresh, Stany Lobo, Albert Menezes and others were present.
Zilla panchayat members, B Padmashekhar Jain, Chandraprakash Shetty, and Manjula Mave, taluk panchayat member, K Sanjeev Poojary, Bantwal block Congress president Mayilappa Salian, Panemangalore block Congress president, Abbas Ali, municipal president, P Ramakrishna Alva and others accompanied the minister.
