Mangaluru, July 22: A murder attempt was made on assistant sub-inspector (ASI) I Purandara Gowda on Friday, July 21 at Kasaba Bengre in city. The accused fled from the place. Before that the car hit the electric pole when it lost control.

Injured ASI is taking treatment in a hospital.

As per information available, Purandara Gowda had gone to arrest four persons who had allegedly planning a robbery. When the accused saw ASI, they tried to kill him by dashing the car against him. After injuring him, they fled from the place .ASI was later taken to a hospital.

Harris (24) is the main accused, said the police sources. He has 15 cases pending against him in various police stations. Names of other accused are not known.

    Best is "encounter" against thee goons. They deserve no sympathy. They needs to be punished with "encounter" way only, Honest people in society needs to live a peaceful life and all criminal elements needs to be punished and encountered.     BEFORE GOING TO ARREST HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A NOC FROM MINISTER CONCERNED.

    These rowdy sheeters should be encountered.
    This is the second such attempt on policemen. This dangerous trend has to be nipped in the bud. The government went soft on the culprits who assaulted SI Aithappa for avoiding its main vote bank being hurt. If it had acted strict, this second incidence wouldn't have happened.
