Kundapur, Jul 21: In an operation conducted by the staff of rural police station at Kandlur near here, a pick-up vehicle carrying 27 heads of cattle illegally was intercepted by the police on Friday July 21 morning. The police took into possession of 27 cattle which were crammed into the vehicle. However, one of the cows was found to have died because of inhuman conditions in which the animals were loaded into the vehicle.

The cattle traffickers wanted to clandestinely take the cows to slaughterhouses by taking cover under pitch dark conditions of the night. The police succeeded in stopping the vehicle and rescuing the cattle found inside from near Gulvadi village in the taluk. But the persons who were transporting the cattle managed to escape.

Personnel of Kandlur police station got information at around 2 am on Friday that cattle were being transported illegally through Gulvadi road. The police immediately went there and raided the spot. It is said that the miscreants, sensing the raid, abandoned the vehicle and ran away. It is said that out of 27 cattle which were stuffed into the crammed space inhumanly, one cow died.

It is suspected that the cattle were being taken to Mangaluru from Mavinakatte here. The police said that they will entrust these cattle to the care of cow shelter. A case relating to the incident stands registered in Kandlur rural police station.

Illegal animal trafficking, stealing cows in front of their owners is an not only criminal but an inhuman act which shall be condemned.
The law enforcing agency should sincerely work to put an end to this menace at any cost.

People who question lynching should know why people get upset.
Its when the law is not enforced.
Lets not fool orselves by saying that the police do not have the going on in thier locality.
Its only because certain politicians are supporting them, that they turn a blind eye to it, people loose thier patience and it turns ugly.

Whatever may be the case, butchers have no right to steal somebody else's cattle and butcher it. Don't justify thieving.

I think it is two cows which have died during transportation (see picture 6 and 12). Good job done by police to intercept the vehicle otherwise these people would have fed the meat of dead cows to the public.

My personal views: I am a Hindu and I am also a non vegetarian but I have never touched , hell I haven't even seen beef in real life. This doesn't imply I will stop some other person from consuming it because I have no right to alter someone else's food choice. It's all part of the food pyramid, someone is going to prey on someone. Now about the rules, the rules are clearly misleading common people. The people are so un-informed about the rule that a writ was filed in Kerala HC challenging validity of the ban on cow slaughter. This is clearly creating a rift a between people. The rule will create abysmal situation for poor farmers as they won't be free to trade cattle freely even if it is not for slaughter. The situation if not controlled wisely and maturely by government could escalate into serious communal riots, trailers of which we are already seeing since 26th May.

Soon animals will become extinct in such a manner. Difficult days for India. This is just the first ban taken so lightly still many more to come. Gaurakshak or not its a waste of time once rules are in place. 10 years imprisonment we seen the insider story of the jail too. People dont mind boasting of their huge population but sadly cannot control their tongue. I dont think the farmers should take care. There should be state gaushalas where farmers can be employed. Looks risky to keep them at home. This was never a concern earlier add one and substract another rule always has pros and cons. We only need to see what works best for the country.

The goons could have thought these cattle trafficker a good lesson. That is why lynching is going-on in other states because of these illegal & unwanted activities and even people from the majority community are supporting them.

Cow slaughter is banned in Karnataka still these thugs don't stop their activities. We need to strengthen the Anti cattle slaughter laws in the state and enforce it strictly on ground. Hope the new BJP government in Karnataka does it in 2018. We need to first get rid of this Anti Hindu Congress government in the state. They are deliberately promoting these things to provoke Hindus and please one community for votes. Time is up for Congress.
