Bengaluru: Roopa takes charge as state traffic, road safety DIG

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 19: Senior IPS officer, Roopa D Moudgil, who had earned the ire of the government after exposing irregularities in Parappana Agrahara prison in the city and hence transferred, took over as the deputy inspector general of police of the state for traffic and road safety on Tuesday July 18.

Roopa arrived at the police headquarters located at Nripatuga Road here in the afternoon. She met state director general of police, R K Dutta, for sometime before going to her room in the complex and taking charge of the new assignment. Speaking to journalists who met her, Roopa said it is her duty to obey the orders of the government and that her personal feelings or emotions do not matter. "In the police department, there are no good and bad departments. Everything is good. I do not deem this transfer as punishment. It is a normal process and I have obeyed it," she clarified.

In the meanwhile, on Tuesday afternoon, director general of prisons, H N Satyanarayana Rao, who has been transferred, handed over charge to newly appointed additional director general of prisons, N S Megharikh. Both the officers held discussions for sometime. Megharikh told the media persons that he has taken over charge as per government orders. He added that he has the experience of having functioned as a member of committee headed by senior IPS officers relating to Parappana Agrahara prison. "Therefore I have some experience about the functioning of this prison and information about alleged wrongdoings. I will cooperate with retired IAS officer, Vinay Kumar, who is investigating the allegations" he stated.

The vacancy created by the transfer of Roopa has been filled with the appointment of deputy inspector general, H S Revanna, in her place. He also has been given additional charge of chief superintendent of Parappana Agrahara prison.

Clean and honest officers in this present Government has tough times. The underlining message is very clear, "If you are not willing to row along, survival will be difficult". There is long line up of Ravi, Ganapathy, Aggarwal, Anupama Shenoy, Reshmi, Roopa etc who stood for clean governance and zero tolerance for corruption and can vouch for it. Speaking to media as violation of service rules was a mere reason for the much sought transfer and they acted in an unexplained and unexplainable hurry. Investigation is a mere eyewash and the process will meet the same fate of earlier cases wherein the culprit will be exonerated where memory of people are selective and short. Since the set-up is neck deep in corruption, the trail of this payout needs to be investigated by an independent agency. Corruption is reaching new horizons in Karnataka and every breath of it is contaminated by its foul smell....!

Wish you all the best in your new assignment. Whatever you said and expressed your feelings is correct. But we people dont agree that version. Govt. is doing injustice to honest, sincere and efficient officers. They try to suppress the cababilities of able officers. this should not happen. So be bold in your future career also.

Corruption is not party based but depends on individuals. Honest and upright person suffers because the power is with the corrupt. Its for the general public and media to support them, so that other honest people can come forward to fight injustice.

No proglem….no worry Madam…. RTO is the another most corrupt dept in our State…. Very first day you might end up in digging several cases to expose!!! Your transfer Order will be printed again but you already became “Lady Singham” in our region….so no worry…. keep going….and keep doing good work for this society…. Only thing is that you never shift your family home since you will not be allowed to stay in one place for more time… may be some time less than 6 months too
