Mangaluru: AI Express Dammam flight does emergency landing at Mumbai

Mangaluru, Jul 18: In an incident which happened on the night of Monday July 17, an Air India Express flight from the city to Dammam made emergency landing at Mumbai airport.

The flight had departed the international airport here at 6.30 pm. Within sometime since the aircraft was airborne, a 22-year-old youth passenger of the flight complained of acute abdomen pain on account of kidney stones. As such, the flight was diverted to Mumbai where the aircraft made emergency landing, after which the youth was allowed to disembark. Medical attention was provided to the youth there.

The flight therefore reached its destination with undue delay, sources said.

    Appreciated the remedial action taken by the AI staff. In additional to their reaction, these all airline staffs including pilots are undergo mandatory FIRST AID TRAINING which may helpful to the passengers in case of an emergency. Aviation authority of India should consider this rules if it is not stipulated in their rule book

    Its an humanitarian act. May be there is provision for emergency landing for such cases. However, whether anyone feels sick or serious to save his precious life one has to do such emergency landing .

    Air India's captain and crew members took the right decision by making an emergency landing at Mumbai due to the youth's sudden illness on board the flight from Mangaluru to Dammam.

    kidney stone pain unable to control the pain unless the pain killer injection , but in flight should keep first aid like pain killer, ect... good job pilot.

    I had kidney stone problem some years back, the pain is unbearable. Later I came to know that pain due to kidney stones is comparable with the pain during labor and delivery.

    @kaleel mangalore,saudi Arabia,In a flight ,unless a doctor orders,a pain killer is not adviceable .It can end sometimes to unwanted side effects.They have done the best is to get him a medical intensive care and land in Mumbai.This time AI .has done a good job.

    Instead of finding fault with Air India, as one of the readers' comment implies, the crew deserves a pat on their back for making an emergency landing in Bombay to alleviate the boy's pain. It is a nice humanitarian gesture displayed by the national carrier.

    They should keep pain killers or basic medical aid. Few other flights will be delayed too. Life is also important if delivery is possible in air anything is possible.

    I appreciate the work of the airline staff on taking correct decision as it was a medical emergency........

    some of them don't read the news fully and comment....do not read news as if you are correcting answer papers on evaluation duty......

    the boy could have even lost his life ....we do not know .......a life is more precious than delay of flight.... hats off to the person who took right decision considering the fact of medical emergency.....

    How many of you have been on evaluation duty in schools and colleges?
    You guys think its a joke to valuate answer sheets.
