Bengaluru, Jul 17: Karnataka chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, summoned adviser to the home minister and former IPS officer, Kempaiah, and director general of police (intelligence), M N Reddy, to his official residence, 'Kaveri' on Sunday July 16. It is learnt that he gave a thorough dressing down to both the officers for their failure to ably handle situation arising out of communal tension created by the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist, Sharath Madiwala, at B C Road. Siddaramaiah, who also holds home portfolio, also told them in no uncertain term that they should exercise proper control over their juniors.
He questioned both the officers specifically about what he feels inept handling of the situation, and expressed unhappiness at their inability to exercise control over the disturbing situation.

As per reports, Siddaramaiah angrily questioned Reddi as to why did the intelligence department fail to get advance indication of possibility of communal clashes happening in Dakshina Kannada district after incidents like attacks and murder happened there. He also told both the officers to hold junior officers under tight leash and never allow anyone to violate their limits. He also instructed them to decide and inform the government about steps which can be initiated against officers who are found to be transgressing their limits.
