Mangaluru, Jun 27: Vikas PU College organised a programme observing World Anti-Drug Day on June 26.
Addressing the students, chief guest Hanumantharaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru said, “Drugs are the greatest evil for our society. Adolescence is the most crucial age with lots of distractions. For many teens’ illicit substance use and abuse become part of the landscape of their teenage years. Psychological distress, perception of extensive use by peers, impulsiveness and seeking of high sensation leads to drug addiction. Drug addiction in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir is taking a dangerous shape. The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances act (NDPS) is playing a very vital role in eradicating this evil. It is the duty of every citizen to take the responsibility to make the nation, free from drugs.”
‘Drugs End All Dreams’ a booklet compiled by Dr Ananth Prabhu advisor ,Vikas PU College, sponsored by Krishna J Palemar, chairman of Vikas PU College, was unveiled by the chief guset. This was followed by the oath taking ceremony against drug abuse. Students actively participated in collage making competition and exhibited the same during the programme. The programme concluded by an inspiring mime show presented by the students of commerce. Trustees J Koragappa and Suraj Kumar Kallya, principal Rajaram Rao, administrator VidyaKamath, and coordinator Parthasarathi were present.
Sangeeth Sharath of II PUC commerce compered the function, Shreya Shetty of II PUC commerce welcomed the gathering and Prajna C of II PUC commerce delivered the vote of thanks.
