Bengaluru, May 25: In yet another shocking incident, a woman was found murdered with her throat slit and another woman missing from their rented house at Ejipura in Bengaluru. The two women had rented the house a week ago and were staying together.
The deceased has been identified as Honamma. The missing woman is her friend Riya.
Honamma had abandoned her husband and children back in Tamil Nadu and was living in Bengaluru. The police after investigation said that Riya, who was living with Honamma, had used a surgical blade to slit Honamma's throat to kill her. A manhunt has been launched to nab Riya, informed police.
Viveknagar police station formed two special investigating teams to probe into the case. According to sources, the murder must have taken four days ago which came to light on Wednesday, May 24.
The two women, Honamma and Riya had rented the house located on Ejipura main road. They had informed the owner of the house that they were from Tamil Nadu. On Wednesday, foul smell started emanating from the house. When neighbours looked through the window, they could see a woman lying on the bed with bedsheets all over the face. When repeated calls did not wake her up, the residents along with the owner broke open the door of the house to see Honamma's body in a decomposed state, revealed police.
According to police, the two women were seen entering the house at 10 pm about four days ago. Honamma's body in a decomposed state was discovered on May 24. Riya is reportedly missing. Early reports of Honamma committing suicide were dismissed by the police after forensic reports suggested that her death was due to the slitting of throat.
The owner of the house reportedly told the police that he was not sure if the deceased was Honamma which forced police to probe for the address of the deceased. It came to light that Honamma hailed from Tamil Nadu. Honamma's family was informed about her death. Her family members who rushed to Bengaluru, identified the body.
