Mangaluru, May 23: Zephyr, a two-day national level post graduation management fest was held at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor recently. The Inaugural Ceremony was held on April 11 and graced by Fr Praveen Martis, principal, St Aloysius College, as the chief guest.
Fr Joseph J Lobo, director – SJEC, Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director of SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal of SJEC, Dr Prakash Pinto, dean of MBA at SJEC, and Chitralekha J Acharya, faculty convener were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The chief guest Fr Praveen Martis addressed the gathering with an inspirational talk. He spoke about the four C’s - competence, commitment, compassion and conscience. He also mentioned about the importance of three H’s- heart, head and hand. He stated that, when the heart and head work together, the hands will reach out to achieve the vision. Fr Martis also stressed upon 'attitude', which he said, mattered most in life.
The valedictory function was held on April 12. The chief guest for the programme was Fr Joseph J Lobo, director of SJEC. Speaking on occasion he encouraged the participants to never give up in life. He emphasised on the importance of learning through failures. Dr Rio D’Souza, vice principal of SJEC and the guest of honour for the occasion stressed on how team work will lead to success. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal - SJEC presided over the function.
The theme of the function was ‘Invictus’- meaning unconquered. 18 teams participated in various events of Zephyr. There were a total of seven events comprising best manager, best management team, finance, human resource, marketing, quiz and cultural round. Evaluations of various events were done by industrial and academic experts. The overall championship was bagged by the team from Mangalore University central campus and the runners-up were from Srinivas Institute of Technology - Valachil.
