Amritsar, Mar 18: Shocked by the news of a death warrant reportedly being served on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, his family is still under the constant anxiety and keeping strong hope for his safe repatriation to India.
Sukhpreet Kaur, Sarabjit's wife said "my husband should be released the way Kashmir Singh was."
In his mercy petition sent to Musharraf, Sarabjit had sought his release on the grounds that he was innocent and wrongly implicated.
A year ago, Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, had attempted to commit suicide to mount pressure on the Centre put efforts to save her brother.
Earlier, a few days back, Pakistan caretaker Human Rights Minister Ansar Burney said when he came to the Attari Border to see off Kashmir Singh, that he would now take up the case of Sarabjit.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had sentenced Sarabjit on the charges of carrying out a series of bomb blast in that country.
In 1990, Sarbjit had inadvertently crossed over to Pakistan when he was inebriated and was nabbed by Rangers and later tried, under the name of Manjit Singh, in the bomb blasts.
