Udupi, Feb 26:  A bike rider, riding without helmet, accused a traffic police of slapping him and said as a result he fell down on the road and got injured.

The incident happened at Santhekatte near here on Sunday, February 26.

The traffic police on duty dismissed the charge and said that the rider fell on his own while he asked the rider to stop the bike. “My intention was to warn him about not wearing the helmet. He fell down because he lost control.” he said.

The name of the rider is Sharath and he was moving towards Byndoor from Udupi.

As per the version of Sharath, traffic police were stopping vehicles on the road and he was also told to stop for not wearing helmet. He told a police that he would park his bike bit ahead. But another police, who thought that he was moving, slapped him and as a result, he fell down and got injured.

Locals who gathered tried to argue with the police. They even tried to block vehicular traffic on the highway. But the police officers, who came to the spot, pacified them.

No case was registered.

Police, you have done the right thing. First of all, the biker who is riding without helmet is guilty. secondly, he has not obeyed your instructions to stop his vehicle.
third, he has not parked the vehicle as per your instructions but without your permission trying to park at his discretion making the police inconvenience and wasting their time.

Police keep up your good work. Law abiding people are with you. Vehicle riders should not show their superiority complex with the police. Now onwards, face the music from the police.

The real story is something else. Where is the part the police hit the rider and that caused him to fall. People are not crazy to argue with police. And also the part where police used tactics against the victim.

Seize the bike and fine the rider heavily. Check out the number plate. Its old style and not as per RTO rules with white background.

Driving without a helmet is a non-cognizable offence.

The police has no right to slap someone while driving. What if he had fallen off and run over by another vehicle. He would have been dead or disabled for life and who would be responsible ? He could have noted the license plate number and followed up and obtained an arrest warrant from court or sent a penalty ticket.

Please do not encourage the police to do such atrocities.

Those who think they are law unto themselves and do not obey traffic rules deserve instant Karma.People here go on the wrong side at will as if they have the right to do so.They follow rules only to avoid penalty and not for their own safety.Such a foolish population.

The police should sieze the vehicle as it bearer wrong Registration Plate with Black board with white letters. This is not permitted. Besides the vehicle is having hydraulic brakes and it skids when the brakes are not applied uniformly. The rider was not wearing helmet. On seeing the police, the vehicle rider must have became nervous and fell down and started blaming the police.

My humble requests to all the two wheeler riders, wear helmet and saves your life. I have been wearing helmet since 34 years even though it was not mandotary to wear helmets earlier some time back. Two years ago, I was saved from a hit by City bus. I fell own on he road but helmet saved me. So let us not blame police for everything. Jai Hind
