Mumbai, Feb 24: Three Kannadigas from coastal districts of Karnataka have got elected in the local body election held in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra.
Winnnifred Baptist D'Souza, who contested from Sahar Road Parsiwada ward in Chakala, Andheri (east) Mumbai, who was the sitting corporator, got elected with a huge margin once again. At the same time, Jagadish Kutty Ameen (Anna), who fought the election from ward No. 82 at Marol Pipe Lane in Andheri (east), also emerged victorious. Both of them fought on Congress tickets.
Winnifred belongs to Loretto in Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada district. She became victorious with a margin of 566 over her nearest Shiv Sena rival, Nidhi Sawant.

Jagadish Ameen is from Nitte in Karkala taluk. He humbled his BJP rival, Santosh Kelkar, with a margin of 35 votes.
In the Thane municipal corporation election, Meenakshi Rajendra Shinde, who fought the election as a Shiv Sena candidate from 3c ward of Manpad Manorama Nagar, won the election with a huge margin. For Meenakshi, who belongs to Enagudde, Katapadi in Udupi district, this happened to be the third successive victory.
