Bengaluru, Feb 23: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be extending 25 percent concession in bus fares to senior citizens undertaking travel in its buses. The concession will be extended in city buses, mofussil services, ordinary, express, semi deluxe and Rajahamsa bus services for those who are over 60 years of age.
The passengers can avail of the concession by presenting their identity cards. In the past, the said concession was being given to only those passengers who held identity cards issued by the corporation. This was depriving a number of senior citizens of this concession. A release from KSRTC said that the corporation therefore, has decided to extend concession to all the senior citizens who produce identity cards bearing their dates and years of birth.
The eligible identity proofs which can be produced to avail of 25 percent discount are passport, electoral identity card, registered Adhar card, driving licence, identity cards issued by central government and public sector undertakings mentioning residence and date of birth, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme cards, identity cards issued by any of the state government department or public sector units, and any of the identity cards issued by KSRTC, the release added.
