Bengaluru: BSY-Ananth video: BJP wants action against Cong leaders

Bengaluru, Feb 19 (DHNS): BJP leaders on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Bengaluru police commissioner seeking action against ministers M B Patil, Basavaraj Rayareddy, Ramesh Kumar and MLC V S Ugrappa for their reported criminal conspiracy in releasing the “doctored” video involving B S?Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar.

A delegation comprising MLC V Somanna and leaders Dr Ashwath Narayan, Ravi Subramanya, Vijay Kumar and Subbanna met the police commissioner Praveen Sood at his office and submitted a memorandum.

Congress leaders “doctored electronic records, fabricated false evidence to malign the BJP leaders and misled the public” about the state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa’s claim that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah paid Rs 1,000 crore to the Congress high command to retain his position. They sought action against the ministers under IT Act and IPC Section 196 (using evidence known to be false). “We have received a memorandum from the BJP leaders. We are looking into it,” Sood told DH.

On Friday, Ivan D’Souza, government chief whip in the Legislative Council, lodged a complaint with the Malleswaram police seeking action against Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar for purportedly discussing payments made to their party leadership in Delhi. The Malleswaram police said that they were yet to get a report from the legal cell.
