Shivamogga, Feb 16: It is reliably learnt that Kumar Bangarappa, who happens to be a former minister and son of former Karnataka chief minister, the late Bangarappa, has decided to join BJP. Kumar, who already has held discussions with BJP leaders on this subject, revealed his mind to his supporters at Sorab on Wednesday February 15.
Kumar Bangarappa had convened a meeting of his fans and supporters at Sorab in the district on Wednesday. He indirectly told the gathering that he is left with no other option but to change loyalties before the next election, and that BJP happens to be the only alternative left for him now. His supporters, it is learnt, wholeheartedly supported his desire to join the BJP. Kumar had openly praised some schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past.
As per information, Kumar Bangarappa, who has already held discussions with top BJP leaders, has also opened discussions with BJP state chief, Yeddyurappa, through third persons. He decided to hold the meeting of his supporters in view of welcome gesture shown by the BJP, it is said.
The meeting was aimed at getting to know the pulse of his supporters. As Bangarappa's supporters lent him full support in his decision to join BJP, it is being analyzed that he will soon join BJP. His brother, Madhu Bangarappa, is currently representing Sorab constituency in the state assembly, having been elected through JD(S). The brothers are bitter political adversaries.
Kumar Bangarappa, who is a staunch follower of former state chief minister, S M Krishna, is said to have been fed up by the ways of district in-charge minister, Kagodu Thimmappa.
