Mangaluru, Feb 13: Officials of the local city corporation conducted a drive yet again to evict vendors undertaking business on footpaths near State Bank circle and Rao and Rao circle here on Monday February 13 morning.

It looked as if the vendors had advance information about the raid. Most of the vendors and their wares, which were usually found occupying the roadsides, were missing.

The raiding party however removed whatever things they could lay their hands on during the eviction drive.

These raids have also been held in the past. It has become an established practice for the vendors to stay away from their shops immediately before and after the raids and then re-establish themselves at the same spots thereafter.

We dont want to see this type of monthly or fortnightly comedy. As soon as the street vendors are evicted they soon return to their respective places as if it is their ancestral property. Thats why pedestrians are walking on roads and street vendors occupy our footpaths which MCC has spent lakhs and crores of rupees for the purpose. Ultimately the benefit goes to vendors who are enjoying this privilege of carrying out their trade. MCC take serious action. Dont make aNY KIND OF DRAMA.

These vendors should listen to administration and leave the place once they receive notice, feels bad to see their hard earned money and setups crushed by bulldozers.
...and administration should also take demolition drive against everyone who occupies government land illegally, like politicians, big business men, wealthy people and land mafia etc -not just these poor street vendors.
