Udupi, Jan 27: A leopard that had spread terror in Pernakila and nearby areas here since the last some days, has finally been caught.
The leopard, which was found trapped in the cage on Friday January 27 morning, was safely taken into the deep forests and released.
The forest department had placed a cage in front of the residence of Philomena Pinto at Gundupade in Pernankila. Forest officer, Ganapati Naik, led the operation to take the leopard to the forest.
After it received complaints from the villagers about the citing of two leopards in Pernankila area, the forest department had taken measures to find them, and has now succeeded in catching hold of one among them.
With the capture of one of these wild animals, locals, who were afraid of losing domestic animals to the leopard and getting attacked by it, have heaved a sigh of relief.
