Bengaluru, Jan 16: Perhaps sensing that the storm of discontentment that is brewing against his style of functioning is getting stronger, state BJP president Yeddyurappa has called for a meeting of dissidents on January 19 presumably to assuage their feelings. It is being analyzed that Yeddyurappa was forced to buckle under pressure as the dissidents got support of several loyal activists of the party. The meeting has been called at the BJP office here.
Yeddyurappa, who has extended open invitation to those who are unhappy at his way of handling things, has expressed readiness to listen to their grievances and take remedial measures wherever possible. However, some quarters analyze his initiative as an attempt to patch up things in order to see that the state executive of the party being held next week at Belagavi does not turn stormy.
As already reported, the issue of differences between Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa over formation of Rayanna Brigade might crop up at the coordination meeting of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) being held on January 17. The discussions held there may spill over to the state executive, which Yeddyurappa wants to avoid, sources believe.
Yeddyurappa however reiterated that he has not received the letter said to have been written to him by MLC, Bhanuprakash and others, expressing their reservations over his style of functioning. He said he has convened a meeting of such leaders at BJP office on Thursday to thrash out all issues. However, he stated that there is no question of discussing things with people who have been expelled from the party.
