Bengaluru, Jan 15: BJP leaders, Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa, who are reluctant to meet each other and thrash out contentious issues probably due to issues relating to ego, are likely to face one another at the coordination meeting of different organizations connected with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on January 17. This meeting is scheduled to be held at the central office of the organization at Chamarajpet here.
Normally, internal issues do not crop at such meetings. Still, possibility of the face off between these two leaders becoming one of the subjects of discussions cannot be totally ruled out. At the said meeting, where leaders of different organizations will meet RSS leaders separately, Eshwarappa and Yeddyurappa will naturally participate on behalf of BJP.
The continued differences between Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa and a letter written by 24 party functionaries and legislators asking Yeddyurappa to correct himself have created an awkward situation for the BJP, which is aiming at grabbing power in the state during the next assembly election. There is apprehension that the tussle between these two veteran leaders might rob the chances of the party in the election. Top leaders of the party feel that the image of the party is getting damaged, and they are apprehensive about its further erosion.
Sources however said that such issues usually are never discussed in coordination meetings like these as they are meant to hold consultation over strengthening of organization and drafting of future plans. Therefore, suspense on this issue will remain till the end of this meeting on Tuesday, they added.
