Kundapur, Oct 17: In a humane gesture of generosity, an NRI Muslim youth has constructed a house for a poor site-less Hindu person and has become a guiding light for him.
Narayana Achar aged 72 years has three children, two of them being girls. The third is a physically challenged son. His grandson is polio affected. Narayana Achar had chosen carpentry as his profession when he was young. It has been a challenge for him to look after the family on his earnings. He had built a small house on government land but had no money for its repairs. The house collapsed in last year’s monsoons.
He submitted a request to Koteshwara grama panchayat but received a reply that it is not possible to build a house on government land without permission. However a member of the local ward, Krishna Golla was sympathetic towards his pitiable condition and held discussions with local Swagath Friends. He informed his friend abroad, Abdul Sattar about the pathetic condition of Narayana Achar.
Abdul Sattar, well-known for his social work got a house built spending three and a half lac rupees. He has handed over the house in the presence of Swagath Friends, local grama panchayat and local people. Donor Sattar was specially felicitated on the occasion.
Grama panchayat president Janaki Billava, former municipal council president Nagaraj Rao, businessman Sudheer Kumar Shetty Markodu, grama panchayat vice president Udaya Naik and others commended the donation of Sattar. In the days when vested interests are poisoning the minds of people to create communal tension, a donor from the Muslim community has taken a promising bold step towards communal harmony by building a house for his Hindu brethren. One can only hope that the good work may continue.
