Tokyo, Oct 14 (IANS): Tokyo stocks rose from the bell on Friday as a rebound in oil prices and the yen's depreciation against the US dollar combined to create a buoyant market mood.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 20.85 points, or 0.12 per cent, from Thursday to 16,795.09, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, advanced 1.60 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 1,343.91.
Notable early issues that gained comprised mining, insurance and information and communication-linked issues.
