Mangaluru,Oct 4:"A tender has been called for the 4 works under phase I of the chief minister's Nagarothana 100-crore scheme and the all pending works are completed" said Mangaluru City Corporation mayor Harinath, addressing the press meet in his office at MCC, on Tuesday, October 4.
He also said, "Under phase II of the Nagarothana project, all 124 works have been approved, of which 89 works are already completed and remaining works are under progress. Under phase III of Nagarothana project, 169 works works have been approved, of which 66 works have already been completed and the pending works are under progress. Under the premium floor area ratio (FAR) amount in the selected places of the city footpath, work has begun. In the upcoming days, works on footpath and drainage will be undertaken in different phases in the city. Initiative has already been taken to call tenders for the works of Rs 13.69 crore under 14th Finance Commission grant. Under SFC grant Rs 10.00 crore is fixed, initiatives have been taken to call tender works."
Harinath said, "Mangaluru City Corporation is selected for the Smart City list in the second phase. MCC has been selected on eligibility. And it is not alms (Bikshe) given by anyone. It is selected not on political influence,but on the basis of eligibility, selected by the team formed by the union government. Union and State governments both equally contribute for the smart city. Even the MCC has to spend 29 crores for the smart city."
He also said that the mini dining hall at town hall and Kavoor market will be completed by December.
He said, "The 4.5 km road between Surthkal-Kana-MRPL is completely deteriorated because of tankers. MCC has written to chief minister and deputy commissioner, asking MRPL to repair the road. Responding to this, the chief secretary of the CM in his letter has also asked the deputy commissioner to look into the matter. Even MCC will urge the DC to ask MRPL to repair the road. MRPL within 20 days has to start the work on this road otherwise, I, along with all the corporators from corporation will hold a massive protest against this".
