Kundapur: Council meeting filled with rebuttals

Kundapur, Sep 30: The ordinary council meeting of Kundapur town municipal council continues to be filled with friction between ruling party and opposition members.

At the recent meeting, member Chandrashekar Kharvi alleged that the vice president mentioned to the media that some members come drunk to the meeting and showed a video of the meeting. Vice president Rajesh Kaveri denied the allegation.

Member Pushpa Shet asked if the upcoming building on Mission School road has municipality permission. Vice president Rajesh Kaveri said that the construction should be stopped. When other members joined them, the president said that the work will be halted.

Sathish Shetty said that rat fever is found within the council limits and three people are affected by it. The chief official assured that fogging and sprinkling of pesticide is in progress. Udaya Mendon said that parking problem is becoming acute in Kundapur and requested for a solution.

Member Raviraj Kharvi alleged that landless people are instigated to fight for land for political reasons despite knowing that there is no vacant land in the city. Udaya Mendon said that it is better for the government to buy land, build houses and distribute them among the landless.

Council president Vasanthi Saranga, presided over the meeting. Vice president Rajesh Kaveri, standing committee president Geetha and chief official Gopalakrishna Shetty were present.
