Mangaluru, Sep 25: “BJP leaders are trying to destabilize the state government on the Cauvery issue through various statements creating confusion among people,” said Ivan Dsouza, the Chief whip of the legislative assembly.
Addressing the media persons in his office in city on Sunday September 25, he said, “The Cauvery issue has come to a stage where in the Prime Minister has to intervene and arrange a dialogue between both the states. There are three cabinet rank ministers from the state and they have not been able to convince the Prime Minister to intervene.”
“There are 18 MPs including three minsters and nothing is happening. One of the leaders is saying that the Prime Minister will not intervene in this matter. Till now the PM has not spoken a word about the Cauvery issue and how can the leaders tell that he will not intervene?”
“On the other hand, they are making politics and were also absent during the last all party meeting. They have not stood in state's favour in the parliament nor boycotted any session. They have even not held any protest. It appears as a conspiracy by the BJP leaders to destabilize the state government on the issue.”
“The chief minister Siddaramaiah has written seven letters to the PM seeking his appointment but the PM has not responded so far. The prime minster has time to give solution for the Baluchistan but not for the Cauvery issue. He attends weddings being uninvited and no time for Karnataka's people as the head of the unified system of states.”
“Therefore I urge the Prime Minster to intervene at the earliest and provide justice to the state.
Smart City project
Speaking about the smart City project he said, “It is a joyous moment for all Mangalureans as the city has been included in the second list of smart cities project. The main perspective of our proposal is to develop Mangaluru as the port city. The old port area will be developed and DPR has to be sent to the union government. Our roads will be concretized because of the 100 crores in ADB. As soon as the first stage of funds which amounts to 200 crore, both from centre and the state, the reality of the smart city will be in front of us. Hence I urge the concerned for the speedy work to the submission of the DPR.”
He advised MCC to make a solar park in the city by installing solar panels to the street lights and the open area so that the city will be mainly dependent on solar power for electricity.
