Mangaluru, Sep 24: Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary slammed state government for expressing its intention to take back control over Lord Mahabaleshwara temple at Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district.

He was addressing the press meet at the premises of Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple here on Saturday September 24.

“The temple administration is entrusted to Sri Ramachandrapur Math. This is cheap politics by the government. Tomorrow, it may go ahead to take control over other temples in the state,” he said.

Poojary appreciated the resolution passed in both the houses on the Cauvery water dispute. Appreciating CM Siddaramaiah and MLAs, he said,  “All MLAs in both houses and CM have come out with a single voice on the Cauvery issue. I appreciate them. No state in the country has taken such a decision. But Tamil Nadu government is making a decision to file contempt of court plea in the Supreme Court.”

On Tamil Nadu, chief minister Jayalalitha being hospitalized, Poojary said, “Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha should get well soon. We don’t have any anger against her personally. She hails from Mysuru which is also a native place of Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah.”

Further slamming CM Siddaramaiah, Poojary said, “Siddaramaiah have you read the affidavit which was filed before Supreme Court? What efforts have you made to save the river Cauvery? Before the resolution was passed in the assemblies, have you not shown that Congress government in the state is weak? Are there no advocates from Karnataka in Supreme Court of India? Proceeding made by you in the assembly wasn't a contempt of court order on September 20? Where are you Siddaramaiah? Legal experts and engineers have failed miserably in containing Cauvery dispute.”
