Sullia: Flesh of python recovered - accused flees

Sullia, Sep 23: Forest officials raided a spot near River Kumaradhara at Kodimbala village near Subrahmanya, on the night of Tuesday, after coming to know of a person cutting down a python under the railway bridge. The accused, however, succeeded in running away.

Forest officials on patrol duty detected this illegal incident. The accused, identified as P Joseph from Nakoor village, gave the raiding party the slip. The scooter used by the accused, and three pieces of flesh cut off from the body of python were confiscated by the forest officials.

For undertaking an advanced investigation, assistant conservator of forests, Jagannath, visited the spot, inspected the place, and guided the investigation.
A case stands registered under Wildlife Protection Act.
