Udupi: Budding writer Johan Lewis appreciated for writing talents

Udupi, Sep 22: Special program ‘An Evening with Budding Writer’ was organized by Department of English and literary association to encourage budding young writer Johan Lewis at Milagres College Kallianpura on Thursday, September 22.

Chief guest of the program, Prof Shrinivas Rao, lecturer, MGM College gave insights on poems written by John Lewis.

Appreciating his writings, Prof Shrinivas Rao said, “Only talented people can compose poems. Poetry is not easy to write. He is a real role model of this generation and I wish him all the very best for his future.”

Another resource person of the program, Prof Prasad Rao, English department Thenkanidiyoor College said, “He is working hard in writing poems. Some of his poems are rare and appreciable.” 

Prof Cyril Mathais, English department Milagres College said, “For him, his grandfather is a role model. It is important to incorporate rhymes, rhythm and reason in a poem.”

Dr Vincent Alva professor English department Milagres College said, “He is all rounder. He is good at sports, cultural events and now in writing poems. He is a talented writer.” 

Speaking on the occasion, Johan Lewis said about his poem, “I really do not have any idea on writing poems. One day I wrote a hidden love letter on my college diary, but my cousin sister found that letter and said that was a good blog. So I continued to write something.”

The president of this program principle of Milagres College Dr Gerald Pinto thanked the gathering.

Salwa of BCA welcomed the gathering. Johan Lewis  proposed the  vote of thanks and Naina D’Almeida of 2nd BCA compered the program.
