Mangaluru, Sep 20: Foundation stone laying ceremony was held for the extension of Stree Shakthi Bhavan at Bejai, on September 20.
Mangaluru South MLA, J R Lobo, laid the foundation for the extension work of the building. Addressing media persons, he said, "A few days ago, the Stree Shakthi Bhavan was built to enable women to retail the products they produced. As the building is placed at a prime location in the city, the government has decided to extend the building by two floors. This extension would accommodate an office for the deputy director of women and child welfare department."
"The total estimated cost of the extension adds up to Rs 69.5 lac. The government has sanctioned Rs 25 lac for now. The rest of the amount would be disbursed as the work further progresses. The building is expected to be completed in the next eight months. Nirmiti Kendra has undertaken the project of constructing the building. As it is a prime location, it is convenient for the public to visit the office of the deputy director" he added.
Deputy director of Women and Child Welfare Department, Sundar Poojary, CDPO Shyamla, congress leaders T K Sudheer, Ramananda Poojary, and others were present at the gathering.
