Kundapur, Sep 19: After police intervention, a man married a young girl in front of their 10-day-old baby. It is learnt that after promising to marry, he had kept the girl with him for four years and in the process impregnated her and left her at her parent's house.
In the pretext of marriage, Vinod (24) son of Rama, resident of Balegadde, Kollur kept Akshatha (21) daughter of Prakash and Manjula resident of Gulwadi, Udayanagara, Kundapur Taluk for four years. After she conceived, he ran away leaving her at her parent's house.
They were in relationship from the last two years. He had left the girl in 2015. Later he was not in touch with her. It is learnt that Vinod’s parents were not in favour of marriage.
On September 5, Akshatha gave birth to a girl child. Vinod did not even come to see Akshatha and child. Hence she filed a complaint in Kundapur police station. Police after investigation summoned both the parties for dialogue.
During the dialogue, Vinod and his parents agreed for marriage. Hence marriage took place at Kundapura Shri Prassanna Ganapathi Temple. The marriage was also registered later in Kundapur sub-register office.
Their 10-month-old baby was present during the marriage. Akshatha will be with her parent for three months and later go to Kollur as per the tradition.
