Kasargod, Sep 11: A woman, who had sustained severe burn injuries after she was set on fire by her husband, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital at Mangaluru on Saturday September 10. Although the doctors thee made all out efforts to save her, their efforts went in vain.
The deceased was Asira (22), who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Her huband,Nafis, who has been accused of this murder, is absconding.
Nafis and Asira had set up their home in a house at Chala, Vidyanagar here since sometime. Nafis had gone missing after setting his wife on fire on the night of September 7, as per reports.
Asira, who was badly burnt in the fire, was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru by her neighbours. Asira however, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, doctors stated.
It is said that Asira revealed to the doctors attending her that her husband, Nafis, was the culprit. On the basis of this statement, police personnel of Vidyanagar station here have registered a case. Investigation is under way.
