B'luru: Nativity of mother Mary celebrated at St Vincent Pallotti Church

Bengaluru, Sep 9: The annual feast of Nativity of mother Mary was celebrated at St Vincent Pallotti Church, Banasawadi, Bengaluru with traditional gaiety and fervour on Thursday September 8.











The services in Konkani commenced at 7.45 am at the church premises with blessing of newly grown sheaves of paddy corn by parish priest, Fr Claudy Vaz and Fr Manohar Noronha, followed by the children offering and honouring Mother Mary with flowers and singing of hymns. Thereafter the children along with priests and parishioners proceeded to the church in a procession with blessed paddy corn and statue of Infant Mary to celebrate holy mass. The main celebrant during the eucharistic service was Fr Manohar Noronha, who was ably assisted by other priests including Fr Claudy Vaz, Fr Joseph and Fr Robin Ramesh. The homily on this occasion was delivered by Fr Manohar Noronha.

The Konkani choir group ably supported the eucharistic service by singing melodious hymns.

Blessed corn was distributed to the parishoners at the end of the service.

Breakfast was served at the church basement after the service. Sugar cane was distributed to the children thereafter.

President of St Vincent Pallotti Konkani Kutamb Banasawadi, Melson D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the service.

The main attraction of this year's celebration was the 9 day Novena in preparation of Nativity feast, each day having a unique theme on the life of Mother Mary with floral offerings to her during the Novena.
