St Philomena College Puttur conducts PTA general body meeting

Puttur, Sep 6: The annual general body meeting of parent teacher association of St Philomena College here was held on September 1 at the college auditorium.



The principal of Lourdes Central School Mangaluru, Fr Robert D’Souza delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Role of parents in the present education system’. He said, "Parents have a great deal of responsibility. They are their child’s first teacher. It is from parents that the child can learn culture, social skills and get exposed to many experiences."

The campus director Dr Antony Praksah Monteiro highlighted the role of parents in making their children better citizens.

The correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto delivered the presidential address.

On the occasion, the HoD of Sanskrit, professor D Ishwara Shastry was felicitated on his superannuation. The annual souvenir of the college ‘Philoprabha 2015-16’ was released by the chief guest.

The PTA president Ganesh Rao welcomed the gathering. The principal professor Leo Noronha delivered his introductory speech. The secretary Dr Vijaya Kumar M presented the annual report. The treasurer Edwin D’Souza presented the statement of income and expenditure. Professor Maxim Carl conducted the election for the various posts of new office bearers.

The HoD of mathematics, professor Udaya K gave the details of parent-teacher-student interaction session. The joint secretary of PTA, Vinaychandra proposed the vote of thanks. The faculty member Prashanth Rai compered the programme.
