Udupi, Sep 1: When it comes to helping the needy and the less fortunate, daijiworld readers have always shown utmost care and concern towards the suffering members of the society by readily springing up with donations without limiting their largesse to specific castes, creed, language, religion, or regions. Here is another example of exemplary response by Daijiworld readers who large-heartedly rushed to the rescue of Neville Fernandes' family, within days after an appeal was published on daijiworld.com barely ten days back.

Neville, the lone breadwinner of his family, had suffered massive stroke and as a consequence, had become paralytic, leaving his wife and three daughters in deep pain and shock. Positive attitude of his wife Laveena, and his brothers and sisters who stoutly stood by Neville, have given rise to positive vibes, and as a result, Neville has begun to show positive signs of recovery slowly from a situation where it looked impossible at one stage.

After getting treated in AJ Hospital Mangaluru for over 40 days, now Neville has been taken back home. An amount of over Rs 20 lac received through Laveena's account not only has given the family newfound confidence and courage, but has also kindled a ray of hope in Laveena's mind about better future prospects for her children and husband.

"I was feeling all alone and dejected at this time of crisis. Neville's brothers, sisters, my family members and everyone else tried their best to console me and instill courage and confidence in me. But I was devastated at the thought of the bleak future of Neville as well as my children. But now, I do not know how to thank you people for helping me from all corners of the world. People who do not even know me or my family have extended help gracefully. No caste or religion have stood as barriers for the generous donors in coming to my rescue. This shows that we all belong to one religion that is humanity. With my folded hands, I thank each and everyone from the depths of my heart for reaching out to me during the extremely hard phase of my life. Throughout my life, I will be praying for each and everyone of you, no days will pass without thanking and praying for each one of you. Daijiworld played the role of a big samaritan in my life. I cannot even imagine about my life without my humble appeal having been published through Daijiworld,...." Laveena, who was looking much better than she was about ten to twelve days back, described, with tears welling her eyes.

Daijiworld had published the appeal on August 21, 2016. The amount received in Laveena's account has crossed Rs 20 lac as at Aug 31, 2016. Contributions have come from all corners of the world, directly into her bank account.

"Apart from extending help monetarily, several people called me over phone and enquired about Neville's health. They offered prayers for him and asked us to contact if they need any further help," she said in a voice choked with gratefulness and relief.

Neville is on wheel-chair now, he is undergoing physiotherapy sessions everyday and a male helper is appointed to help him as Laveena alone cannot handle him physically.

Three kids of Neville and Laveena speak only through their eyes, which are brimming with a feeling of gratitude and thankfulness.

Daijiworld.com hereby gratefully acknowledges the help readily extended by all those who responded to this and other earlier appeals and brightened up lives of the suffering. During the last several years, you have been responsible for generating over Rs 11.5 crore for extremely needy people. We feel humbled and contented at the realization that each and every rupee of yours has reached the needy's account directly, and not through any middlemen.

Hope we will continue to reach out to the needy in the coming days too.

May almighty bless us all.

Your generosity helped them too:

Its a good feeling. Hope Neville gets back on his feet soon. Glad that the girls don't have to discontinue their studies due to their father's illness.

Lets promise to be there for all those in need, certainly without discrimination, may it be caste/creed/religion. Because, God forbid, it could be us in Neville's shoes someday.
