Mangalore: 22 Filaria Cases Detected in DK District

Mangalore, Dec 7: 22 Filaria cases were detected in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, out of 10,804 blood samples collected during January 1, 2007 to November 30, 2007.  They were provided with adequate treatment, stated Dr H Jagannath, DK district health and family welfare officer.

Speaking at the programme held in Dharmasthala, on Friday, December 7 morning,  he said that DEC capsules were distributed to 13,30,933 people across the district for the consecutive 3 days during November 2007, with a view to eradicate filaria which was achieved with 91 percent success. 

DEC capsules distribution programme was a grand success in Mangalore rural taluks, namely, Bantwal, Puttur.  However, the success was not achieved across Mangalore, as expected.

    DEC capsules not distributed to our area i.e., Kalkar - Bajal - Mangalore, continuously two times. We do not know the reason. why?
