Bengaluru, Nov 28: BJP opposition leader in the assembly R Ashoka has declared that the party will focus on issues concerning North Karnataka and corruption charges against the Congress regime during the forthcoming Belagavi Legislature session.
Addressing the media after a meeting with BJP legislators from the Northern Karnataka region in Bengaluru on Thursday, he said the Siddaramaiah government has failed to address the development needs or grievances of the people in the region.
Ashoka stated that the Congress government has not allocated funds for the development of the backward Northern Karnataka region and has neglected the implementation of the Nanjundappa commission's recommendations on addressing regional imbalances.
He warned that the ensuing winter session of the state legislature, beginning on December 9 at the Belagavi Suvarna Soudha, would be used to highlight the issues faced by Northern Karnataka and the scams under the Congress government.
The BJP leader pointed out that excise contractors, who had threatened to strike, were persuaded to withdraw their plans to shut down wine shops across the state. However, he noted that the state transport department and road transport corporation employees are planning strikes, and government hospitals are suffering from a lack of funds.
Ashoka also alleged scams involving MUDA site allotments and the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, along with other corruption allegations against the government. He added that discord within the Congress party regarding its guarantee schemes indicates instability, asserting that the government will collapse soon.
