Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 17: St Agnes PU College observed Independence Day celebration to commemorate the nation’s independence.
The flag hoisting by the principal Sr Shamita was followed by a cultural programme consisting of a mime on religious integration followed by a medley of patriotic songs and a dance drama depicting the valour and heroism of our soldiers who fight on the borders to protect the sovereignty of our country.

Chief guest Dr Clement Suresh D’Souza spoke on the need to recognize the true potential in every child and to guard against the desire to straitjacket children as per societal expectations.

He explained how academic excellence alone is not a true measure of success in life and how we need to draw upon a wide pool of talents to make a vibrant India. The programme concluded with the singing of the national anthem.

Book Exhibition

A three-day book exhibition was organized by Arunodaya Publications and Pauline Books and Media Centre at St Agnes PU College Library.

The exhibition which featured a wide variety of academic books and an eclectic collection of fiction and poetry was inaugurated by the Principal Sr Shamita AC and attended by the cabinet members and faculty.

The enthusiastic response to the book exhibition by staff and students alike made the librarian, Tressie Menezes conclude that such events should become an annual feature as it helps foster the reading habit and benefits students enormously.
