On receiving the honour from the academy, Rajendra said, "My thoughts are on relevance of poets in the future. No significant changes have been seen in the transformation of poems compared to ancient era."

He said that he is answering society through his poetry and wants to bring changes in society. He is expressing his ideologies through his poem. This is the only way of expressing his opinion.
There is need for poetry to be given a new shape. It is one of his desires too. There is need to come out of the framework of the Navodaya era."

Rajendra expressed his disappointment over the way the Kannada language has transformed in every field. Unless Kannada is spoken in a proper manner it cannot be preserved.

Rajendra from Mandya, has completed MCom and is now self employed. He is also the editor of ‘Sankatana’ and has released three other books.

The programme was presided over by well-known writer, Erya Lakshminarayana Alva.
