Mangaluru, Aug 6: The eighth intercollegiate cultural fest - Prerana was held on Friday August 6 at Father Muller Homoeopathic College campus,Deralakatte.
The programme began with registration of the participants from 17 PU colleges. The participants were from the city and adjoining areas like Puttur, Bantwal, Udupi and Moodbidri. The inaugural programme began at 9.30 am. The dignitaries on the dais were Fr Robert D’Souza, principal of Lourdes Central School and the chief guest of the function, Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo, the asst administrator of Fr Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr ESJ Prabhukiran, vice principal, Fr Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr Vivek Sakthidharan, convener, Vinod, student council president and Akhila, cultural secretary.
The MCs of the programme welcomed the gathering after which there was a welcome prayer song. The student council president Vinod welcomed the gathering and gave a brief bio-data of Fr Robert D’Souza. The vice principal Dr Prabhukiran addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on homoeopathy in general and Fr Muller College in particular. The chief guest Fr Robert D’Souza gave a beautiful message to the students about life and the importance of youth and their contribution to life, society, nation and world. He inspired the students with his mesmerizing speech. Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo, the asst administrator gave his message to the audience. He spoke on Prerana, competitions, inspiration and stimulated the students. The vote of thanks was proposed by the cultural secretary Akhila. The programme came to an end with the college anthem.
The contest is made up of a total of 3 events, Kannada and English extempore, water coloring and quiz. with 2 participants from each college for each event. The extempore and water coloring contests were held in the morning and the quiz final in the afternoon. The event went on smoothly and was a great success.
