Kasargod, Aug 5: Police personnel belonging to Bekal station in the district arrested two persons and recovered 6.5 kg ganja that was being transported by them in an auto rickshaw. The arrests were made on Thursday August 4.
The arrested persons are Durai Pandya (26) from a villave in Tamil Nadu and Karuppayyan Mani (41) from Thanjavur. They have been living since many years at Bekal, it is said.
The policemen, acting on reliable information received by them, had begun to inspect vehicles on Thursday evening. During the checking of an auto rickshaw that came their way, ganja was found with two passengers travelling by the said three-wheeler.
The police believe that the arrested accused were involved with getting ganja from Tamil Nadu and selling the same at various places after taking the stock to the town.
