Rio de Janeiro, Aug 4 (IANS): The organisers of the Rio Olympic Games will give away over 2,00,000 tickets to children for free, the Rio 2016 Organising Committee Communications Executive Director Mario Andrada has announced.
Andrada said around 65,000 tickets were sold on Wednesday. The communications director added around 79 percent of all tickets have been sold till Tuesday, reports Sputnik.
"There will be 2,40,000 kids across different projects in different areas. We have reached 100 percent of the projected revenue. We have sold all the most expensive tickets, so we can afford to give some away," Andrada was quoted by The Guardian on Wednesday.
The 2016 Olympics will be held in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro from August 5-21.
