Bantwal, Aug 3: The school authorities at government higher primary school at Kanyana here found to their chagrin on Monday August 2 morning that window glasses of Akshara Dasoha room, water pipe, Sintex water tanks and doors were utterly damaged by unknown hooligans.
Two Sintex water tanks and doors of washrooms were destroyed by the miscreants. Ten water taps were damaged and holes were found to have been rigged through the pipes fitted to the toilet. Four big window panes of Akshara scheme room were shattered and attempt was made to break the basins inside the washroom by dropping boulders on them. Total loss suffered in these incidents has been calculated at one lac rupees.
Zilla panchayat member, M S Muhamed, Kanyana gram panchayat president, Devaki, working president of Kanyana government PU college, Abubakker Siddique Poyyagadde, and several others visited the spot. Headmaster of the school, Sooryanarayan, and president of school development and monitoring committee, Radhakrishna K, filed complaint in Vittal police station.
Although Vittal is a communally sensitive area, the destructive activities seem to have been conducted by someone in drunken stupor and not pre-planned, policemen say.
Taluk unit of Campus Front of India has demanded for immediate arrest of the guilty. It feels that the miscreants have purposefully destroyed certain properties of the school. President of the taluk unit, Ashwam Sadiq, in a press release, urged the government to build compound walls and appoint watchmen to see that no one gains entry into school premises.
