Mangalore, Nov 27: In order to curb misuse of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), the distributors were directed to note the serial numbers borne on LPG cylinders in the delivery receipts, stated the press release issued by M Maheshwar Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada (DK).
Accordingly, the domestic consumers are supposed to return the same LPG cylinder bearing the same numbers. If the domestic consumers return some other LPG cylinder bearing different numbers, such consumers would be assumed to be misusing the cooking gas. Moreover, Oil companies would take appropriate action on those consumers through the numbers specified in the recovered LPG cylinders, as they can easily identify from their data base that the said LPG cylinder was issued to the respective consumer.
The complaints on irregular supply of LPG cylinders have been reviewed. Most of the complaints have come from Indane consumers. The discussions were held with the officers of the entire major oil companies, while the officers of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), have taken steps to improve the situation, on priority basis.
Moreover, the officers of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the manufacturers of Indane gas have assured of doing their best in improving the situation, although their bottling plant located in Bangalore, takes almost 8–10 days to supply LPG cylinders to the individual consumers, due to technical difficulty. Besides, actions were being taken to deliver LPG cylinders to those families who have only one connection.
The district administration has taken serious view of using domestic LPG cylinders in automobiles and commercial establishments, namely, hotels and restaurants. Strict actions will be taken on those commercial establishments and if needed their licenses too will be canceled.
Actions will be taken to confiscate such LPG cylinders besides canceling their LPG connections, cautioned the DC. Further, the district administration has urged the LPG consumers neither to lend their domestic LPG cylinders to any individual nor to borrow from others, for any purpose.
