Beijing seeks logo designs for 2022 Winter Olympic, Paraliympics

Beijing, Aug 1 (IANS): Beijing launched a worldwide campaign to seek designs for the emblems of both 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

At an event held to celebrate the first anniversary of the successful bid for the 2022 Olympic Games, the organisers on Sunday said they will seek designs for the emblems of those games from worldwide designers regardless of their nationality, gender, profession and age, reports Xinhua.

"The emblem is the most important visual image element of the Olympic Games and constitutes the basis of the Olympic Games branding system," said Han Zirong, general secretary of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organising Committee.

"It tells the stories of the Olympic Games and conveys the culture and ideologies of the hosting nations," she said.

She noted that the design of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics should signify the "perfect unity of nationality, art and creativity".

The deadline for the designers to submit their applications is November 30.

The 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Organising Committee also unveiled its official website, which started operation on Sunday.
