Udupi, Jul 19: In a noble gesture, JCI Kaup donated a shelter to a poor family who was staying in a hut covered with tarpaulin at Kaup sea shore near Poyyapodikalla Garadi in Kaup Padu gram. Their house had collapsed a few years ago due to rain and storm and most of their belongings including their cot and idol of deity had got buried in the mud.
Kaup JCI president for 2014 Anil Kumar led JCI had laid the foundation stone for the house in 2014. Though the work continued under the leadership of JCI president for the year 2015 Yogish Rai and Jagadish Achayara, it later stopped half way.
The work was resumed under the leadership of present JCI president and first lady president Soumya Rakesh under the supervision of member Upendra Acharya on June 18.
The house built at a cost of nearly Rs 5.5 lac was handed over to Baby Madivalthi, Sadashiva Madiwala and Jayalaxmi, Kaup Padugrama resident on Sunday July 17.
JCI national vice-president Hardik Kapadia speaking on the occasion praised the noble work of JCI Kaup.
JCI zonal president Sandeep Kumar, Brahmabaidarkala Garadi priest Jagannatha Poojary, businessmen Prabhakara Poojary, Ganesh Acharya, municipal council members Vijaya Karkera, Arun Shetty Padooru, electricity contractor association president Anwar Ali, zonal vice-president Rakesh Kunjooru, zonal officials Radhakrishna Bantwal, Chidananda Iddya, Anil Kumar, Shakir Havanje, Subhas Belman, JCI Udupi Silver Star president Jyothi Ramanath Shetty were the guests of honour.
Kaup JCI member Upendra who supervised the work, Anwar Ali who provided electric connection and Jagannath Poojary who cooperated were felicitated on the occasion.
Unit presidents Girish Mundkooru, Ragavendra Prabhu Udupi, Jagadish Acharya Manipal, Kaup JCI former president Jagadish Bangera, Deepak Kumar Y, Rajendra B K, Yogish Rai, Youth Jaycee president Dheeraj Suvarna and members were present.
