Berlin, July 9 (IANS): Midfielder Marc Stendera and German football club Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed on a contract extension, both sides announced.
The 20-year-old, who is currently on the road to recovery after a torn cruciate ligament, on Friday penned a contract extension until June 2020, as his old contract was about to expire next year, reports Xinhua.
"Even though Marc is not yet available after his serious injury, we want to bind him for the next years and express our esteem," Frankfurt' s sporting director Bruno Huebner said. "Marc is a very talented player who plays an important role in our future planning. "
Stendera is a Frankfurt home grown talent, who has been playing for the "Eagles" since 2010. After making his first outing in the senior team in April 2013 he made 67 competitive outings to provide five goals ever since.
"I am very happy about the contract extension and the trust they place in me," Stendera said. "It is a great sign especially after my injury. I am delighted that I can play the next four years at Eintracht Frankfurt."
The "Eagles" open their Bundesliga season 2016-2017 against Schalke on August 27.
