Bengaluru, Jun 30: A pregnant woman from the city committed suiide after killing her small child by stifling it. The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday January 28. Reportedly, the woman took this extreme step, having been unable to bear a stomachache she had been suffering from since a long time.
Shwetha (32) was six months pregnant. She had come to her parental home at Chokkasandra in Peenya here for her second delivery along with her 18-month-old daughter about a month back. She had been married to Yogesh from Turuvekere three years ago.
Shwetha was suffering from frequent bouts of acute stomachache since sometime, and medicines given had not helped. She was worried that she would die of stomachache, and she shared this worry with her parents too. She also said often that she was worried about the future of her daughter in case of her death.
Policemen said that Shwetha's parents came to know of the incident after returning home from a function. Her relatives said she killed her daughter because of worries about her future. It is gathered that she did not have any strong family problems to contend with.
