Mangaluru, Jun 27: Expert PU College, Valachil launched its series of cultural programmes for the academic year 2016-17 by hosting the Carnatic Flute Recital by Vidwan Sumhit Veda Aradhyula, a budding genius, hailing from Tucson, Arizona in the USA.
He was ably accompanied by Vidwan TG Gopalakrishnan on the violin and Vidwan Adoor Babu on the mridangam.
Prof Dr Satheesh Aradhyula, associate professor, Dept of Agriculture and Resource Economics, University of Arizona, USA inaugurated the concert by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Ustad Rafique Khan, Trustee, Expert Educational & Charitable Foundation welcomed the artistes. Ankush N Nayak, alumnus of Expert PU College introduced Sumhit to the audience and advised the students to emulate the example of Sumhit who is gifted both in academics and cocurricular activities and has bagged an offer to pursue higher studies at the prestigious Harvard University.
Sumhit began his concert with the rendition of Ramakrishna Bhagavathar’s ‘Vinayaka Ninu Vinu’ (Hamsadhwani Ragam, Adi Talam). This was followed by ‘Nagumomu,’ a Thyagaraja composition in Abheri Ragam and Adi Talam.
Later, he played Purandara Dasa’s ‘Tamburi Meetidava’ (Sindhu Bhairavi Ragam, Adi Talam) and ‘Dasana Maadiko Enna’ (Nadanamakriya Ragam, Adi Talam). He concluded the concert with yet another Purandara Dasa composition ‘Bhagyada Laksmi Baaramma’ (Madhyamavathi Ragam, Adi Talam).
After the enthralling concert, Sumhit, gifted both in academics and co-curricular activities, interacted with the students and enlightened their minds.
