Udupi, Oct 29: In order to improve the academic standards of educational institutions, the industries must take a lead, said K Narayana Rao, member secretary, All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the two-day meet of Technology, Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council-Centre for Relevance and Excellence (TIFAC-CORE) held at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal near here on Sunday October 29.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government is a voluntary organization; hence it cannot be held responsible for any fall.

The products of the government are absorbed directly by the industries, hence it is the prime duty of the industries to improve the standards of educational institutions, said Rao.

He further said that efforts are going on in order to encourage technical education.

The AICTE and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) have signed a MoU to promote quality technical education, he added.
