Kolkata, May 26 (IANS): Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday announced names of five sponsors who have been brought in to improve the overall cricketing infrastructure in the state.
IDBI Federal Insurance Private Limited, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Bandhan Bank, BMA Stainless Limited and Parampara have extended their hands to be sponsors for the state cricket body.
The cumulative sponsorship value will be around Rs.5 crore per year. The contracts have been made on a two to four year basis.
“Easiest thing is to sell a Mahendra Singh Dhoni or a Virat Kohli but challenge is to create platform for such talents at the first class level. And I am delighted to have all of them step forward and support us. Hoping for a great association,” Ganguly said at a media meet.
Ganguly said during Indian Premier League (IPL) and international matches these sponsorships will not be exhibited anywhere in the Eden Gardens as that will lead to ambush marketing.
“They will be there for all CAB matches. However, they will not feature during the IPL or international games,” Ganguly said.
Expressing his delight, Sanjay Gupta, director of BMA Stainless who has already provided rain-covers for Eden Gardens earlier said, "I am thankful to the Cricket Association of Bengal for considering us to share the responsibility of providing cover to the ground and protect it from the perils of nature, specifically rain."
